Women are the makers of the future" is an event organized by the Faculty of Engineering to celebrate Women's Day, Mother's Day, and the anniversary of the Battle of Karameh

On behalf of Yarmouk University President Professor Malek Al-Sharairi, Vice President for Scientific Research, International Accreditations, and Rankings Professor Ruba Al-Batayneh sponsored the event organized by the Women in Engineering Society – Yarmouk University branch at the Al-Hijjawi Faculty of Engineering Technology, entitled "Women: Makers of the Future," commemorating International Women's Day, Mother's Day, and the anniversary of the Battle of Karameh.

In her opening remarks, Al-Batayneh emphasized the importance of this event, which coincides with significant national and humanitarian milestones. She noted that this convergence embodies the role of women in building nations and shaping the future, their established role in education, leadership, and scientific research, and their partnership with men in various fields of national contribution.

Yarmouk University reiterated its pride in the Jordanian state's approach to supporting and empowering women through policies and legislation that have strengthened their presence in the workplace and decision-making positions. These policies have also enabled women to assume advanced roles in both the public and private sectors, reflecting a genuine belief in their capabilities and contributions to achieving comprehensive development. The university emphasized that this approach stems from a firmly established national vision based on partnership, justice, and equal opportunities, which enhances the resilience and stability of society.

Al-Batayneh noted Yarmouk University's commitment to translating these visions into effective practices that support women academically, administratively, in student life, in research, and in leadership. The university aims to provide a stimulating environment for women's creativity and ambition, thereby strengthening their role as essential partners in knowledge production, decision-making, and building the future. The university will continue to support women's progress and enhance their presence across various sectors.

The Vice Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mazhar Ta'amneh, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the college's pride in the significant role women play, not only in the development process but also as true architects of the future. He explained that the event's theme, "Women: Makers of the Future," reflects a reality that is becoming increasingly evident, particularly in the fields of engineering and technology, where women have demonstrated their capacity for innovation, leadership, and influence.

For his part, the Head of the Irbid branch of the Jordanian Engineers Association, Engineer Mahmoud Rababa'a, delivered a speech in which he stated that the event's theme expresses the truth that women are indeed the makers of the future. He explained that Jordanian female engineers have proven their ability to confront challenges and transform them into opportunities, armed with the knowledge and innovation instilled in them by the university. He affirmed that they are essential partners in formulating sustainable solutions, and stressed the association's commitment to supporting and empowering female engineers, removing obstacles in their path, and ensuring their professional and labor rights.

Dr. Yusra Obeidat, Head of the Electronics Engineering Department and Advisor to the Women in Engineering Society at the university, delivered a speech praising the determination and strong will of Jordanian women and their excellence in all fields. She noted the significant and continuous support they receive from the wise Hashemite leadership and commended the national efforts in supporting and empowering women, which has positively impacted their presence in numerous leadership and administrative positions.

Student Lin Al-Halman, Head of the Women in Engineering Society at the university, also delivered a speech highlighting the role of women in creating solutions and generating innovative ideas. She added that female engineers are creative minds, inspiring leaders, and change-makers who leave a lasting impact. This is the premise of this event: to provide a space for listening to real-life experiences and success stories, and to engage in dialogue about the role of women in engineering and technology.

The event included a video presentation showcasing the presence and achievements of Jordanian women, as well as a panel discussion entitled "The Roadmap from the Classroom to the Job Market."
