About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, was established in 2021 and has since been dedicated to excellence in education, research, and innovation.
The department currently offers a dynamic Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering degree program, designed to provide students with a strong foundation in theory alongside practical, hands-on experience.
Our academic staff includes highly qualified faculty members with expertise across various areas of design and renewable energy engineering. To support both learning and research, the department is equipped with specialized laboratories, operated and maintained by skilled engineers and technicians, ensuring students gain real-world, applied knowledge in a modern educational environment.
To ensure a comprehensive educational experience, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories tailored for various aspects of mechanical design and manufacturing engineering. These facilities are maintained by skilled engineers and technicians, enabling students to gain applied knowledge and develop critical problem-solving skills in a real-world context.
The department mission is to (1) provide good qualities of teaching, research, and professional practice, (2) provide services to industry and local society, (3) provide students with a broad mechanical engineering education, (4) help advance the mechanical engineering profession.

Laboratories and Engineers
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced laboratories that enhance practical learning and support applied research across key mechanical engineering disciplines. These facilities include the Strength of Materials Lab, Materials Science Lab, Instrumentation Lab, CAD/CAE Lab, FEA Lab, Theory of Machines Lab, Mechanical Vibration Lab, Manufacturing Processes Lab, and CAM Lab.
Each laboratory is designed to complement theoretical coursework with hands-on experimentation, allowing students to explore mechanical behavior of materials, develop CAD and FEM models, analyze dynamic systems, study vibration response, perform precision measurements, and gain experience with modern manufacturing and automation technologies. Through practical engagement, students strengthen their understanding of engineering concepts and acquire essential technical and problem-solving skills.
Our labs are managed by qualified engineers and technicians who ensure safe, well-equipped, and interactive learning environments. These professionals assist students in conducting experiments, performing simulations, completing design projects, and carrying out research activities, including graduation projects.
